Good food in CBD? Sure not… more like expensive food right?
It was a pleasant surprise when we discovered GoldLeaf Amoy along the streets thronged with bars. A neat air conditioned humble looking space, GoldLeaf is nothing about overly fancy dishes (with names you can’t even pronounce). Instead, expect a down to earth menu of comforting Chinese food, which tastes as good as it looks. Here are some of my favourite dishes!

Salted Egg Oysters (Off the menu)
I’m a great fan of salted egg anything, so my heart literally skipped a few beats when this yellow glistening dish was presented in GoldLeaf. My verdict? Shiok ah. The salted egg sauce was thick and fragrant, complementing the slightly sweet oyster really well. It was so tasty that I slurped up the sauce that was still in the shell (it’s worth the calories ;))
However, this dish has not been incorporated into their menu yet – so you may try to order it (or call them in advance to check on its availability).
Vermicelli scallops
Golden brown garlic bits on large tender scallops, with the contrasting textures of vermicelli. Need I say more?
Black pepper crab
My experiences with black pepper crab haven’t been the best – most of them tend to be way to fiery, so much that the pepper overwhelms the taste of crab. Well, GoldLeaf Amoy’s black pepper crab was something more. There was an indescribable fragrance from the pepper used and at the first bite, this light aroma slowly spreads into the mouth. Gradually, the spicy taste of the grinded peppercorn surfaces, complementing the well cooked crab meat.
Goldleaf amoy also serves many other traditional tze char dishes, you will definitely be spoilt for choice! Also, feel free to ask for recommendations (their staff should know better right?)
Free flow rice/porridge
Not forgetting the staples, GoldLeaf Amoy provides unlimited servings of rice and porridge. This is perfect news for rice/ porridge lovers, bon appetit!
